Egypto Knuckles & The Mad Bloggers Present: The Labor Day Mix - September 4, 2010

labordaymix.jpg

I'm one big on surprises, so for my post, allow me in conjunction with The Mad Bloggers to present to you the Labor Day Mix!

The mix itself was compiled with the theme of Labor based around it, so here you have 11 jams built around the course of what goes through my mind on a workday. It may sound foolish at times, other times it may sound downright demented, but you know, the whole purpose of labor is to work, so regardless of my thoughts, these might work for the rough work day you might be having on your days. Take today (and Monday if you got it off or not) to listen to these songs and reflect. Thanks to my fam over at The Mad Bloggers and my crew, Background Noise for the vision.

Please note: This mix was compiled from artists that are in no way, shape or form affiliated by The Mad Bloggers, Egypto Knuckles or Background Noise Crew, this is simply a labor of love where I wanted to just get this out to the people and open 'em up to new artists you may not be aware of. So without further adieu, go to the Bandcamp link below to download the mix and enjoy!

June This Month In Sound - June 15, 2010

Hello everyone!!!  I am dropping by to hit you with the newest edition of This Month In Sound!!

This is a very special month - I'm giving away something that people have been asking about for a few years now.

A few years ago a few fellas put out a record, we called it Movement 4:6.  It got some good reviews - some super awesome people helped us put it together - and we had a hell of time performing and releasing it.  In the aftermath - as people got to listen to it I started getting a lot of questions about it.  "How did you get that organ sound on "It Came To Pass"?  Where are those quotes from on "Persephone"?  Where did the strings come from?  Do you sample? What do you sample? Plus a laundry list more - Egypto thinks I should do a Track by Track breakdown of the album.  If the response gets big enough, I just might have to.  The largest response I got from this album was "All the music on there is CRAZY!  I'd love to hear it as an Instrumental!"  Well folks, that is what you get.  For June I give you Movement 4:6 by Sinthesis in its Instrumental form.  Sometimes I left Vividend's scratches in there - sometimes I didn't.  Sometimes I left the vocal samples, sometimes I didn't.  I do apologize - the mastering on these songs is a little odd - you can really hear how much I pulled apart some of the sounds.  I suggest listening to it at a louder level.

Egypto on MPR as part of the ArtHounds - May 28, 2010

So yeah - Egypto made an appearance on MPR's ArtHounds to talk about Soundset 2010 and why you should attend.  The portion where Egypto speaks is around the 2:30-2:38 min. portion.  While BNC is not performing at it (hopefully next time), Analyrical will be in the VIP, so if you see him say what up to him!

Other than that - it is Memorial Day weekend - so we hope you enjoy it!

Peace,

Egypto Knuckles

The Appetizer EP, Vol. 2 is HERE - May 16, 2010

COVER.jpg

So yo - we're here! We're finally here!

After much anticipation and excitement, T.Q.D is proud to present a present! April showers have brought May flowers indeed with the second installment of The Appetizer, a loose collection of tunes that were recorded before, during, and after his 2nd album, "Clench, Grit, Breathe".

Produced by myself (Egypto Knuckles, hi by the way) and Poorboy, it's far from the loose collection, its a testament to T.Q.D's art, stepping up his game over a set of beats that are, well, a little more on the fun side, but still on the serious side.

And here we are.  And you have passed the test.  And you can become our friend by going to get it.......

ENJOY!

A Personal Message From ANALYRICAL - May 13, 2010

Dear Fans,

The past 5 days of my life have been more difficult than anything that I have ever experienced before.  MY LIFE will never be the same.  I am now a TYPE I Diabetic.  I now depend on insulin to help me live.  It's a whole new life, it's a life I feel has been taken from me, and it's also an opportunity.  Let me say this:  Do not hold your hubris.  If you ever feel sick or not well or something is wrong with your body, DO NOT BE STUBBORN, seek help immediately, do not risk it.  I COULD HAVE DIED.  Typing that sentence is almost surreal itself, if for nothing else than that it is so very very true.  I AM extremely humbled by this situation and hope that I can learn, grow and develop a new level of human understanding.  I've never felt sorry for myself at any point in life and I don't plan on starting anytime soon.  I view this as a positive chance to affect my social and musical community with a better message and to help so many of those that need it. There are a few defining moments in a person's life and this is one of mine.

Lots of people have been so generous with their time, care and effort and I cannot thank them all enough for their support during this ridiculously difficult time, but it goes back to cliche, you know who you are, THANK YOU!

If you want to support me or my awesome BNC comrades in our endeavors, please BUY OUR MUSIC.

That's the best way for us as people to connect as friends and fans and musicians.  I want to be part of your world.

you can buy my music here:  http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/analyrical

Or right here on our website!  Or on iTunes!

I'm taking a few months off from performing, but be on the lookout for new music from me VERY SOON!

Sincerely,

-Colin aka ANALYRICAL

This Month In Sound: APRIL - April 16, 2010

Welcome back!!

This is a very special This Month In Sound - It focus on one member of Background Noise Crew, T.Q.D.

T.Q.D stands for The Quiet Dude - which is actually a very unfitting name.  Out of the whole Background Noise Crew he stands only second to myself for recorded/released material.  So apparently he has plenty to say.  I met T.Q.D early in my move to Minneapolis.  We connected and began working on a few random songs that eventually made their way onto his debut album Not Yet.  Shortly after releasing that album, we took at stab at a duo project - cleverly titled Green Sketch.  The original Green Sketch sessions merited over 20 jams.  Only 9 made it to our debut album So Long, For Now.  The rest were broken down, beat up, re-invented and re-surfaced onto T.Q.D's second album Clench, Grit, Breathe.

I am proud to give you all the last of T.Q.D's lost songs -

Jackhammer Pt. 1 & 2

Sleet

Ok. . . I'm Done Now

Jackhammer Pt. 1 & 2 is half produced by me and half by T.Q.D himself.

Sleet is one of the earliest recordings we did for the Green Sketch EP.

Ok. . . I'm Done Now was apart of those same early recordings.  The trumpet is played by one amazing musician, Anthony Phan.  You can catch him HERE!!

ENJOY THIS MONTH IN SOUND FOR APRIL HERE!!!

April Edition of T.Q.D's Corner - April 1, 2010

Greetings everyone and Happy April Fool's Day.  T.Q.D has returned with the April edition of 'T.Q.D's Corner'.  As usual, he waxes philosophical on the world of Hip Hop from days gone by.  Click the icon to your left on the navigation bar and check it out.

We'd also like to remind you all to check out the March edition of 'Phingaz Presents: This Month In Sound', if you haven't already.  He is working on the April edition as we speak.

March This Month In Sound - March 21, 2010

Hello All!!!  I know its REALLY late - but here is my Month In Sound!!

Sinthesis

10001 and Don't Let Me Down

March Month in sound Image

This is a very interesting set of songs.  Sinthesis is composed of Phaust on vocals, Phingaz on sounds.  10001 is a very old Sinthesis song.  Phorest rocks a super hot chorus - Vividend is in there cutting all this crazy stuff up.  (Bonus points to anyone who can name all his samples.)  And the beat is super sampled and heavy.  That was the old Sinthesis sound.  Phaust and I are hard at work comprising a new full length and tracks to boot that are more in line with Don't Let Me Down.  After many debates, Phaust and I have decided to get back to our roots.  Guitar, Blues, Big Drums and Rapping.  This song was written and recorded around election time - but this is more the sound that Sinthesis will be taking in the future.

Show Recap and T.Q.D's Corner - March 14, 2010

Hello everyone,

We here at Background Noise Crew would like to thank everyone who came out to the launch party for this website.  We had a great time and hope you did too.  We'd also like to thank our guests Wize Guyz and Danami for playing.  The goal of the show was to celebrate our website and we will make sure to keep it up to date with current content.

Speaking of new content, the march edition of T.Q.D's Corner is now up and ready to be read.  Give it a look when you have a moment.  Also, be on the lookout for the March edition of 'Phingaz Presents: This Month In Sound", which is coming very soon.

MARCH 13TH HAS ARRIVED - March 12, 2010

New Content and an Upcoming Show!!! - March 7, 2010

Greetings and salutations everyone.  We here at Background Noise Crew are pleased to announce the arrival of T.Q.D's Corner.  It is a monthly blog from T.Q.D's website documenting his opinions on Hip Hop that began in October and we are syndicating it here for those of you who may be unaware.  While you await the arrival of the March edition of T.Q.D's Corner, go ahead and read the past entries.

Also, ToneKrusher Smith has recently started a podcast called 'Grown Man Bizness'.  It is expected to be a bi-weekly podcast with him and his co-host known as Hater Dave.  There is no main topic.  They just discuss whatever they are thinking about at the time.  When you are done here at www.backgroundnoisecrew.com, feel free to visit the Podcast: http://grownmanbizness.mypodcast.com/index.html.

Last, but not least, there is a Background Noise Crew show celebrating the launch of this website at Downtime Bar in Dinkytown (Minneapolis) on Saturday, March 13th.   We will be playing with our friends Wize Guyz and Danami.  It's $5, 21+.  We will be playing mostly new material with a few classics mixed in between.  We hope to see you there.

Phingaz Presents: This Month in Sound Feb - February 14, 2010

Me And My Rifle

This month I give you 3 instrumental jams featuring my guitar.

It's Valentines Day - thus these songs get special dedications.

Thursday Nights - I used to work overnight every Thursday night at my job.  I was accompanied by the same four individuals.  I like to think we had fun.  So Bryce, Johnny Appleseed, Matty D. and Kylene Whit - This one's for you.

She Dances Alone - Last year my immediate circle of friends received horridly harsh news.  Our dear friend Lisa passed away.  While I currently reside many states from her - my heart goes out to her family and everyone who knew and loved Lisa.  She was a dancer and this song is fitting - for you Lisa Layton Oakland.

Click Click Boom - I wrote this song about 2 years ago.  I wrote it in the aftermath of a newly blossomed love.  Lesley, my love and best friend - I dedicate this song to you for 'shooting' me down and starting our amazing journey.  I love you!

EVERYONE PLEASE ENJOY THIS MONTH IN SOUND!!!
